Parking ticket scam texts circulating in Vernon
The City of Vernon warns residents about a parking ticket scam involving fraudulent text messages from scammers impersonating the British Columbia Parking Department.
The scam messages claim that victims owe parking fines and warn of potential license suspension if unpaid.
Residents are advised to ignore these messages and report them to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
The city confirmed, "These messages are not legitimate," and noted it does not issue parking ticket notifications by text.
