Orange to Take Full Control of MasOrange JV in $4.9 Billion Deal
Orange SA has agreed to buy out the remaining stake in its joint venture MasOrange for $4.9 billion from a group of private equity firms in a deal that would hand sole ownership of the business to the French telecom giant and strengthen the firm’s position in its second-largest European market.
Orange , whose largest shareholder is the French State , acquires the 50% that did not own Masorange in exchange for 4,250 million euros and is done with the total control of the largest Spanish teleco by volume of customers, with more than 30 million. Likewise, the gala operator would take over the debt, which until the close of last year amounted to approximately 12,600 million euros.
