Novo Nordisk's CagriSema 2.4 mg / 2.4 mg demonstrated significant reduction in HbA1c and weight across multiple studies in the REIMAGINE program presented at ADA 2026
The trials showed statistically significant weight loss and HbA1c reductions, with results published alongside presentations at the American Diabetes Association meeting.
At the American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions in New Orleans on Friday, Novo Nordisk presented phase 3 trial results for CagriSema, an investigational treatment combining a novel amylin analog with a GLP-1 receptor agonist.
CagriSema targets multiple pathways of glucose regulation, combining amylin—which plays a "distinct yet complementary" role to GLP-1—to address both HbA1c and bodyweight in adults with type 2 diabetes.
In the REIMAGINE 1 trial, CagriSema 2.4 mg/2.4 mg achieved-2.33% HbA1c and-12.0% bodyweight reduction versus placebo. Gastrointestinal-related adverse events were most commonly reported, occurring in 53% of participants.
Martin Holst Lange, Executive Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Research and Development at Novo Nordisk, noted the studies showed "promising results" across disease stages, from first-line therapy to add-on to basal insulin.
Novo Nordisk expects a regulatory decision in Q4 2026 for the REIMAGINE program, which follows earlier results from the REDEFINE clinical program evaluating CagriSema in adults with overweight or obesity.
