Nineteen-year-old NSW man charged with murdering man in Canberra's Garema Place

A man, 19, has been charged with murdering another man, aged 29, in broad daylight in Canberra's city centre yesterday morning. Police descended on Garema Place at 9.45am after reports of an altercation in an alleyway off City Walk. A 29-year-old man was found collapsed on the ground and, despite the efforts of paramedics and members of the public, the victim died at the scene. A 19-year old, from Greenleigh, was chased down and arrested by police shortly after the alleged altercation. He spent the night in custody, undergoing mandatory forensic procedures, and was charged with murder late yesterday.
