NHAI, Jio Launch Telecom Safety Alert System to Boost Secure Travel on Highways

- On December 02, 2025, the National Highways Authority of India signed an MoU with Reliance Jio for a telecom-based safety alert system that will launch within two months.
- The National Highways Authority of India will integrate the system in phases with the Rajmargyatra mobile application and emergency helpline 1033 to enhance road safety.
- The system will send warnings via SMS, WhatsApp and high-priority calls, alerting Jio mobile users about accident-prone stretches, stray-cattle zones, fog-affected areas and emergency diversions.
