Microsoft and Black Tech Street Launch Greenwood Cyber + AI Lab in Tulsa
The center will give residents access to AI tools and training as officials say it will help Tulsa build long-term industry leadership.
On Thursday, May 21, 2026, Microsoft and Black Tech Street opened the Greenwood Cyber + AI Lab in Tulsa's historic Greenwood District, focusing on advancing artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems innovation.
Part of the broader Greenwood Center of Excellence, the lab anchors the Greenwood Entrepreneurship at Moton building and supports community-wide AI fluency through the ASPIRE program.
Microsoft engineers work onsite with startups and community members to develop AI solutions. Black Tech Street Founder and CEO Tyrance Billingsley II called the opening "the most monumental day" in the organization's history.
Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols praised the facility as a "powerful milestone" for regional development, emphasizing its role in strengthening the city's technology ecosystem.
The initiative positions Tulsa as an emerging national leader in AI and robotics. Jennifer Hankins, Managing Director of Tulsa Innovation Labs, stated the partnership solidifies the city's long-term commitment to innovation.
