NATO tests war preparedness on eastern flank facing Russia

Against the backdrop of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, NATO is testing its readiness for war on its eastern flank. Romania, which shares a border of about 650 kilometers with Ukraine, has become an unprecedented strategic focus since the Russian invasion in 2022. Large-scale exercises are currently being conducted, such as "The Fall of the Dacian" and "Steadfast Arrow", which combine about 10,000 military personnel from nine countries…
Since the Russian invasion, France has stationed nearly 1,500 troops in Romania. As part of the "Dacian Autumn" exercise, forces from Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain are training, under French leadership, alongside Romanian soldiers in maneuvers and live fire of artillery and tanks.
