Monarch butterfly numbers in Mexico rise by 35%

The annual survey of Monarch butterflies in Mexico has found an increased population. Xerces Society's Western Monarch Thanksgiving Count tallied 247,237 monarch butterflies observed across the West. In Mexico, butterflies were found to occupy 2.835 hectares of forest, a 35% increase compared to last winter.
