Midstate Marker-White Hall School

White Hall School was one of 44 schools set up for the children of soldiers killed or severely wounded during the Civil War. Students were accepted starting at age 10, and graduated at age 16, hence the term sixteeners. In all over 1000 children went through White Hall, but by the late 1800s there weren't many children of Civil War veterans left.
