Mayor promises to cut proposed tax on residents' concerns

Elizabeth Roy Whitby Mayor Elizabeth Roy released a statement yesterday promising  to reduce the proposed property tax rise for 2026 after residents expressed concern about the tax increase in face of high cost of living. Her amendments would bring the proposed tax increase from 3.99 per cent to 3.49 per cent. Oshawa has proposed a 4.68 per cent increase while Uxbridge has  announced a 1.28 per cent rise in its own portion of the 2026 tax bill. …
