- On Friday, authorities arrested 25-year-old Abdulrahman Oriyomi of Houston, charging him with felony impairment of a critical infrastructure facility for allegedly sneaking onto a United Airlines flight to Los Angeles on May 18 using a fake boarding pass.
- By waiting for staff to be distracted, Oriyomi bypassed security and gate agents at George Bush Intercontinental Airport despite United Airlines having canceled his reservation due to nonpayment, court documents show.
- After hiding in the bathroom, Oriyomi was discovered by crew members, forcing the aircraft to return to the gate. United Airlines Flight 469 was delayed approximately 3 hours while the Houston Police Department Explosive Detection K-9 Unit cleared the plane.
- Oriyomi remains in the Harris County Joint Processing Center on a $15,000 bond following charges of felony impairment of a critical infrastructure facility. He is scheduled to appear in Harris County Court on Monday morning for a bail review.
- While rare, such stowaway incidents raise aviation security concerns, though the Federal Aviation Administration does not track their exact frequency. Recent cases include Svetlana Dali, who was convicted after slipping onto multiple flights in 2024 and 2026.
