The European Union's law enforcement agency, Europol, announced today that eight million counterfeit and harmful toys were seized from shops and markets in a pre-Christmas operation carried out in 26 countries.
In two operations in several EU member states against manufacturers and importers of counterfeit toys, competent authorities seized more than 16 million packages of counterfeit and dangerous toys worth 36.8 million euros, Europol, which coordinated the operations, announced today.
Attention when buying gifts: According to Europol, counterfeit toys are in circulation in the EU especially during the holiday period. Authorities are acting in a coordinated manner.
