Longview Superintendent Arrested, Accused of Mishandling Mark Morris High Sex Abuse Case
Police say the alleged assaults involved 14-year-old victims and were reported to school officials weeks before officers were contacted.

- Investigators allege Cloninger directed staff to handle misconduct internally and discouraged police contact, despite learning that one student was forcibly dragged into the Mark Morris High School varsity team room, pinned to the ground, and partially disrobed.
- Executive Director of Student Services Andrew Schoonover also faces charges of failure to report and making false statements. District leaders allegedly knew of misconduct allegations as early as January 29.
- Longview Police Chief Robert Huhta stated the investigation required significant time and coordination, adding, "We understand the significance this case has in our community and the concern it has created."
- The investigation remains active with potential for additional arrests or charges, while the two students initially accused of rape and assault face trial this summer for their alleged crimes.
