Logitech chief says ill-conceived gadgets put the AI in FAIL
Logitech CEO Hanneke Faber calls many AI gadgets ill-conceived and unnecessary despite Logitech using AI in nearly every meeting, citing unusual products like the Humane AI Pin.
- Hanneke Faber, head of Logitech, told Bloomberg that Logitech is holding off on AI-enabled widgets while dismissing rival hardware makers' AI gadget attempts.
- Recently, hardware makers released mice with AI shortcuts, including the MX Master 4's Copilot button and the Signature AI Edition's ChatGPT button, while startups reported in 2023 prototype AI devices expected within two years.
- Faber, a known AI proponent, said last month Logitech uses AI agents in almost every meeting and she was open to an AI-powered board member, clarifying she is not an AI skeptic.
- This contrast raises questions about whether hardware makers solve real problems, as Logitech CEO critiques firms pushing AI products amid odd devices like the Humane AI Pin and Rabbit R1 with a 2.88-inch touchscreen.
- Entrepreneurs planning a startup reported in 2023 are prototyping personal AI devices and expect products in less than two years, but Hanneke Faber's Bloomberg remarks called many current solutions "a solution looking for a problem".
