Load-shedding gets blame for closure of R38.5m Komani abattoir

A R38.5m Eastern Cape abattoir is shutting down because of load-shedding. Komani farmer and businessman Sidumo Xashimba has been forced to close down his abattoir and lay off his last 16 staff members in the Enoch Mgijima municipality. The abattoir was built on Xashimba’s farm outside Komani with funding from the Eastern Cape department of rural development & agrarian reform.
