Lebanon, Jordan agree to bring electricity through Syria

Summary
U.S.-backed deal aims to ease crippling power shortages by transmitting electricity across neighbouring Syria. Washington assured Beirut it should not fear its sanctions on Damascus. Agreement would supply power-deprived Lebanon with 150 megawatts from midnight to 6 a.m. local time and 250 MW throughout the day.
