For a long time, parties in the House of Representatives simply let Forum for Democracy members grumble during debates, but a new phase began on Tuesday evening. FvD leader Lidewij de Vos was widely attacked, including by right-wing parties, over the ‘right-wing extremism’ within her party.
During the debate on escalating violence at asylum demonstrations, FVD leader Lidewij de Vos clashed with a large part of the House of Representatives. Parties felt that she did not distance herself clearly enough from groups that used violence during protests against asylum seeker centers. Jesse Klaver of GroenLinks-PvdA sees an "extreme-right undertone" within the FVD and accuses the party of normalizing this ideology.

The far-right FvD and party leader Lidewij de Vos faced attacks from almost all other parties in a Tweede Kamer debate on the violence used at recent anti-asylum protests. This is a turnaround to parliament’s usual stance of largely ignoring the FvD in an attempt not to feed the party’s far-right ideologies. De Vos still refused to distance herself from these racist ideas, NU.nl reported.
D66 MP Jan Paternotte has strongly criticized right-wing parties following the recent riots. According to him, rioters must be dealt with firmly, but the problem also lies with politicians who, in his view, have fueled polarization for years. Paternotte spoke in sharp terms regarding the unrest surrounding asylum reception and demonstrations. He wants perpetrators not only to be criminally prosecuted but also to be held liable for the damage.
CDA leader Henri Bontenbal explodes during a debate in the House of Representatives when FvD leader Lidewij de Vos says that the CDA member is casting suspicion on her party 'so that he does not have to answer for rapes and murders'. "How disgusting do you want it to be?" snarls an enraged Bontenbal.
