Korea's Fusion Reactor Ran 7 Times Hotter Than The Sun For Almost 30 Seconds

Scientists in South Korea have managed to sustain a nuclear fusion reaction running at temperatures in excess of 100 million°C – nearly seven times hotter than the core of the Sun – for 30 seconds for the first time. It marks an important advance in achieving viable fusion power, which promises near-limitless clean energy by mimicking the natural reactions occurring within the Sun. A similar facility in China was able to run at a slightly lower temperature for more than 17 minutes last year.
