- The contest covers 23,576 wards across 1,199 local bodies—excluding 36 wards of Mattannur Municipality—and includes 17,337 grama panchayat wards, 2,267 block panchayat wards, 346 district panchayat wards, 3,205 municipality wards, 421 Corporation wards, 33,746 polling stations and 2,84,30,761 voters.
- The SEC said the model code of conduct is in force, with strict enforcement and over 10,000 candidates disqualified in 2020, Shajahan noted.
- Looking back to 2020, the polls were held in three phases in December under strict COVID-19 supervision, while Mattannur Municipality is the sole exception with tenure ending on September 10, 2027.

The local body elections in Kerala will be held on December 9, 2025, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki, and Ernakulam districts. In Thissur, Wayanad, Kannur, Malappuram, Palakkad, Kozhikode, and Kasaragod districts, the elections will be held on December 11, 2025. The counting of the votes will take place on December 13, 2025, from 8 am onwards.
