Police: Cop Killed on Thanksgiving Night, His Brother Is Charged with the Murder
Deputy Shaquille Guerin was fatally shot by his brother, who fled before being arrested and charged with second-degree murder, authorities said.
- On Thursday night, a St. John the Baptist Parish deputy, Shaquille Guerin, 35, was found with at least one gunshot wound on Marigold Lane in Waggaman and pronounced dead at the scene.
- Refusing to pull over, Darius Guerin led deputies on a chase to the 100 block of Jean Lafitte Boulevard, ditched his vehicle, was detained, and authorities found a gun along his escape path.
- Guerin had been with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office for more than eight years, assigned to uniform patrol and the detective bureau, and is survived by Roxanne Guerin, wife, and their three children.
- Darius Guerin, 32, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, and he also faces aggravated flight from officer with motor vehicle and obstruction of justice charges during booking.
