Jet2 Issues New Update to Passengers for All Summer Flights Amid Fuel Supply Issues
Jet2 said increased fuel production and imports give it confidence to keep summer schedules and hold prices steady for booked trips.
On Wednesday, May 20, Jet2 announced summer holidays will proceed as planned, citing positive fuel supply updates and confirming no fuel surcharges will be imposed on booked flights.
Airlines have struggled with fuel supplies following the Middle East conflict, prompting carriers to impose surcharges or cancel flights; Lufthansa grounded at least 20,000 departures for summer.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2, emphasized customers can book with confidence, stating the airline is "geared up and ready for a busy summer" and confirmed flights will operate from Stansted Airport.
Jet2 removed surcharge provisions across all flights and pledged swift refunds and flexibility, ensuring holidaymakers do not face unexpected cost increases after booking their summer holidays.
While fuel supplies stabilize, travellers face separate warnings about lengthy airport queues due to the new EES, with reports indicating waits for entry into Portugal, specifically Lisbon, could reach 6 hours and 40 minutes.
