Ireland commits to Israel fixtures despite calling for their expulsion

Following the Brussels group draw, the Football Association of Ireland confirmed the Republic of Ireland men's national team will fulfil its two Nations League fixtures against Israel, between September 24th and November 17th.
In November 2025 the FAI general assembly voted to submit a motion to UEFA seeking the Israel FA's suspension, citing clubs in West Bank settlements and antiracism policy failures.
UEFA said Israeli 'home' matches must be played at neutral venues and warned refusal to play risks forfeits and further discipline under UEFA regulations on fixture forfeits and discipline.
Heimir Hallgrímsson said individual players must decide whether to play, and he would not express opinions on UEFA's decision, while FAI leaders declined media requests in Brussels.
UEFA will release the Group B3 schedule on Friday, with fixtures between Sept 24 and Nov 17, amid political tensions due to Irish support for the Palestinian cause.
