India, US Sign ₹7,995-Crore Pact to Boost MH-60R Helicopter Sustainment Capability

The five-year Rs 7,995 crore deal will boost operational readiness and enable local maintenance, supporting India's Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative and involving MSMEs.

  • On Nov 28, 2025 the Ministry of Defence signed Letters of Offer and Acceptance with the United States for a Rs 7,995 crore sustainment package valid for five years covering the Indian Navy's MH‑60R Seahawk helicopters under the US Foreign Military Sales programme.
  • Previously, India had agreed to procure MH‑60R helicopters and initial deliveries had begun, with the all-weather maritime variant featuring advanced avionics and sensors built by Lockheed Martin Corporation.
  • The sustainment package includes spares and support equipment, training and technical support, plus intermediate‑level component repair and Periodic Maintenance Inspection facilities in India under Letters of Offer and Acceptance via the US Foreign Military Sales programme.
  • The Defence Ministry said the pact would enhance MH‑60R operational availability and anti‑submarine warfare capability, enable operations from dispersed locations and ships, and promote MSME and Indian firm development under Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
  • Despite recent diplomatic strains, the deal was signed, with the US involved through the Foreign Military Sales programme, as the Ministry of Defence said.
