India Condemns Pakistan’s 'Fitna al Hindustan' Label at UN Security Council
India said Pakistan’s new label for militant groups is state-backed misinformation and a bid to deflect blame, as 42 civilians were killed in cross-border violence, UN records showed.
- On Tuesday, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, criticized Pakistan for labeling militant groups as "Fitna al Hindustan," calling it "officially sponsored misinformation and disinformation dressed in religious terminology."
- Harish characterized the labeling as "an organised factory of hate" intended to distract Pakistanis from domestic political and economic crises while maintaining permanent hostility toward India to consolidate power.
- India also condemned Pakistan's military airstrikes in Afghanistan for causing heavy civilian suffering, with Harish stating that "dressing up a massacre as a military operation" while espousing international law exemplifies hypocrisy.
- The envoy highlighted the 27th Constitutional Amendment, calling it a "de facto coup" by the military that established the post of Chief of Defence Forces and appointed Field Marshal Asim Munir to lead.
- Earlier this year, UN records indicated cross-border military maneuvers displaced over 100,000 individuals; friction intensified after a Pakistani airstrike on a Kabul drug rehabilitation center caused over 400 fatalities, with 269 deaths confirmed.
