Gurindervir Singh, Vishal TK and Tejaswin Shankar each set national marks as five Indian runners finished under 46 seconds in one race, officials said.
On Saturday at the National Senior Federation Competition in Ranchi, sprinter Gurindervir Singh set a new Indian national record of 10.09 seconds in the men's 100m, becoming the first Indian to run below 10.10 seconds.
Friday's semifinal heats saw Gurindervir and Animesh Kujur trade the national record twice within five minutes, with Animesh reclaiming it at 10.15 seconds after Gurindervir had lowered it to 10.17 seconds.
On Saturday, Vishal TK clocked 44.98 seconds to become the first Indian man to break the 45-second barrier in the 400m, surpassing the Athletics Federation of India's 2026 Commonwealth Games qualifying standard of 44.96 seconds.
Decathlete Tejaswin Shankar became the first Indian to cross the 8,000-point mark on Saturday, accumulating 8,057 points and smashing his own national record to rank seventh on the Asian all-time list.
Vishal's 44.98-second time ranks as Asia's fastest this season, and coach James Hillier expects further improvement, saying, "He is learning to execute the plans in the races and his performance graph is getting better.
