- Announced on April 8, 2025, the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme has a budget of ₹22,919 crore for six years and offers incentives tied to turnover and capital expenditure.
- These approvals are expected to generate production worth Rs 65,111 crore and involve Jabil Circuit India, Aequs Consumer Products, Uno Minda, ASUX Safety Components India, Zetfab India, TE Connectivity India, and Meena Electrotech across camera modules, connectors, multi-layer PCB, oscillators, and enclosures.
- Most companies are moving ahead with plant set‑ups, with production expected within the next few months; some items like optical transceivers will be fully domestically produced and exported, while camera modules will initially meet about 17–18% of domestic demand.
- Vaishnaw added that a new skilling framework is planned, and value addition could reach 35–40%, with one major laptop manufacturer raising India-made output to 30%, as Vaishnaw stated, `The way geopolitics and geoeconomics are evolving, the challenges will be bigger and in those challenging periods, your ability to have good supply chain control will define your resilience and ability to compete in difficult times.
