France taxman deploys AI spy to spot hidden swimming pools

Summary by Ground News
France's tax authority said Monday that a new artificial intelligence system had found thousands of undeclared swimming pools, allowing it to collect millions of euros from homeowners who failed to report the facilities. Pools can lead to higher property taxes because they boost property value. Software developed by Google and French consulting firm Capgemini spotted the pools on aerial images of nine French regions during a trial in October 2021. The tax authorities say the software could eventually be used to find undeclared home extensions, patios or gazebos.
