Carmel student hoping to spell her way to victory in Scripps National Spelling Bee

Braydon Syx, 13, is a seventh-grader at West Blocton Middle School in Bibb County. He won the Alabama Spelling Bee back in March and was awarded the opportunity to represent the state in the national tournament in Washington, D.C. Only two other Alabamians have won the competition: Julie Ann Junkin, of Gordo, back in 1974.
