Defending javelin champion Valentina Barrios headlines a Mizzou group with qualifiers in throws, distance, hurdles and jumps.
Fifteen Mizzou track and field athletes are slated to compete in the 2026 NCAA Track and Field West Regional Championships, which begin May 28 and run through May 30 at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Defending national champion Valentina Barrios leads the group, holding the top spot on the West leaderboard for javelin after winning the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships title.
Monica Wanjiku, Marlena Tresnjo, Skylar Ciccolini, Sam Innes, Garik Pozecki, Elijah Limo, Leacock, Ames Burton, and Petra Gombas earned spots through strong seasonal performances, including Tresnjo's 6-0 high jump finish at the Drake Relays and Ciccolini's 188 feet javelin mark at the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
Success at the regional meet determines qualification for the NCAA Championship, with top finishers advancing to the national event scheduled for later this season.
This competition at John McDonnell Field represents the final step before the national stage, positioning Mizzou athletes to compete against the best in the West.
