There were wild celebrations in Volendam last night as FC Volendam confirmed their promotion to the highest Dutch football league, the Eredivisie, with a 0-1 win away at Jong AZ. Hundreds of supporters were waiting for the team at the club’s stadium, the Kras Stadion, to celebrate the promotion. This was in addition to the around 1,500 supporters who had traveled to Alkmaar to see the promotion happen in AZ’s AFAS Stadium. Fans set off fireworks…

A 1-0 win over the AZ reserve team has propelled FC Volendam back into the Eredivisie for the 11th time...

Rick Kruys complimented the players of FC Volendam on Monday after their promotion to the Eredivisie. "During the season we really became a team, with a mix of young and old players. We made many decisions based on 'hardness'. Guys like Robert Mühren and Henk Veerman hardly miss a training session and know what is required", the trainer of the North Hollanders said at a press conference in the AFAS Stadium, where Volendam won 1-0 against Jong AZ.

FC Volendam returns to the Eredivisie after a year's absence. The team of coach Rick Kruys won 1-0 at Jong AZ on Monday evening and can therefore no longer miss a place among the top two teams in the Dutch second division.
