Ireland's Home Game with Israel Set for Neutral Venue
The proposal follows political pressure and UEFA sanctions threats, with both matches potentially behind closed doors if approved.
The FAI is seeking approval from UEFA to move the Republic of Ireland's home UEFA Nations League fixture against Israel to a neutral venue, with Budapest identified as the most likely host city.
Protests by the Stop The Game movement pressured the FAI's decision, following reports from The Palestinian Football Association that 421 footballers have been killed in Gaza and the West Bank.
Former international James McClean claimed "there is not a backbone within the FAI," while motions from Sinn and the Social Democrats urge the government to boycott the fixtures.
Manager Heimir Hallgrimsson insists the decision should be left to the government, while the FAI consulted with Minister for Communications and Sport Patrick Donovan ahead of tonight's Coalition meeting.
Budapest previously hosted Israel's home Euro 2024 qualifiers and could host both legs behind closed doors, though the FAI faces potential UEFA sanctions if the fixture does not proceed.
