PALAWAN, PHILIPPINES, AUG 5 – Chinese Long March-12 rocket launched seven groups of internet satellites, but falling debris near Palawan posed risks to people and marine areas, Philippine authorities warned.
- Residents east of Palawan heard loud explosions Monday night after a Long March-12 carrier rocket launched from the Hainan commercial spacecraft launch site.
- Construction beginning in July 2022 established China’s first commercial spaceport, operated by HAINAN INTERNATIONAL COMMERCIAL AEROSPACE LAUNCH CO., LTD. with over 4 billion yuan investment.
- The Philippine Space Agency projected debris would fall about 21 nautical miles from Puerto Princesa City and 18 nautical miles from Tubbataha Reef Natural Park, posing risks to ships and aircraft.
- In response, A’o ordered aerial and maritime debris operations, as Philippine aircraft and vessels were deployed Tuesday to search for rocket debris.
