FBI releases description of suspect in Nancy Guthrie disappearance, raises reward for information

  • On Thursday, FBI officials publicly identified the suspect after forensic analysis by the FBI Operational Technology Division and raised the reward to $100,000 for information on Nancy Guthrie.
  • Earlier this month, Nancy Guthrie was last seen on Jan. 31 and reported missing on Feb. 1, and surveillance images released earlier this week showed a masked person on her porch, generating over 13,000 tips.
  • The FBI described the suspect as a male about 5'9"–5'10" with an average build, carrying a black 25-liter "Ozark Trail Hiker Pack" backpack, with gloves and blood evidence under analysis.
  • Authorities expanded searches and detained at least one person for questioning as dozens of agents staff a 24-hour command post supported by FBI Threat Intake Examiners and National Threat Operations Center.
  • The FBI urged anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit tips online, saying every tip is reviewed as officials continue receiving over 13,000 leads.
