Edinburgh's historic Caledonian Brewery to close after 153 years

Summary by Ground News
The Caledonian was set up in 1869 and is the last major brewery in Edinburgh. Heineken said the Victorian infrastructure at the Slateford plant meant it was no longer economically viable amid falling production in the last decade. The global drinks giant took over the operation in 2008 after acquiring Scottish & Newcastle. It has struck a deal to continue making the brewery's main brands at a Dunbar brewery.
