European Tour Creates Rory McIlroy Award, Which He Is Ineligible For

The award honors McIlroy’s career grand slam and will recognize the best player across golf’s four majors each season starting in 2026, DP World Tour announced.

  • At the DP World Championship in Dubai, organisers revealed the Rory McIlroy Award, which from the 2026 season will honour the DP World Tour member with the best major performance.
  • Following his career Grand Slam, organisers moved to commemorate Rory McIlroy becoming the first European to complete the feat with his Masters Tournament win in April, joining Sarazen, Hogan, Player, Nicklaus and Woods.
  • Determined by Race to Dubai points, the prize will be awarded to the player with the most points from the Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open, with the first recipient at the 2026 Open Championship.
