DMZ and PS43 commit to second cohort of the Siakam EdTech Engine with expansion beyond edtech to support youth upskilling in AI

The second cohort will focus on AI upskilling and K–12 innovation to address youth unemployment near 15% and enhance career pathways, organizers said.

  • On Nov. 26, 2025, Pascal Siakam announced at a DMZ event in Toronto that DMZ and the PS43 Foundation will launch a second Siakam EdTech Engine cohort to expand youth AI upskilling.
  • Launched earlier this year, the program partnered PS43 Foundation and DMZ to accelerate EdTech startups with three pilot projects, addressing gaps in hands-on training amid roughly 14-15 per cent youth unemployment in mid-2025.
  • Startups reported classroom adoption after receiving $50,000 CAD in grants and pilots, with Cyber Legends and English Islands running projects at Indiana Math and Science Academy and Toronto Catholic District School Board.
  • DMZ and PS43 are now recruiting partners to advance youth upskilling and K–12 innovation, with organizers saying the next cohort will back founders building AI-driven technologies offering tailored support and resources.
  • With a record of scaling startups, DMZ can extend its global network across 15+ countries to support the 2600 startups that raised $2.95 billion, as PS43 pursues its 'DREAM BIG' mission.
