David Perdue challenges campaign fundraising law, Gov. Kemp responds

Summary by Ground News
David Perdue filed a federal lawsuit on Thursday with the hopes that a judge will declare the law unconstitutional. Perdue and his campaign team claim the law gives Gov. Brian Kemp an unfair fundraising and spending advantage in the Republican primary. Senate Bill 221, passed and signed into law last year, essentially allows top elected officials like Gov. Kemp to create something called leadership committees. Those committees can raise unlimited campaign funds, whereas candidates for statewide office, like Perdue, can only collect up to $7,600 from an individual donor in the primary election.
