Colton Cowser Drills Walk-Off 3-Run Shot as Orioles Beat Tigers
Cowser’s 440-foot drive was his second homer this season and first career walk-off plate appearance.
On Sunday, May 24, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Detroit Tigers 5-3 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, with Colton Cowser delivering a walk-off three-run home run in the ninth inning.
Detroit blew a 3-1 lead in the eighth inning, extending the Tigers' losing streak to eight games with 16 defeats in their last 18 contests.
Baltimore's Brandon Young allowed two unearned runs over 6 2/3 innings, while closer Kenley Jansen blew a save for the fourth time in 11 chances this season, surrendering the 440-foot homer.
After hitting his first career walk-off, Cowser said, "Just trying to put the bat on the ball," during the post-game broadcast on MASN.
The doubleheader continues at 6:05 p.m. with right-hander Troy Melton returning from the 60-day injured list to start for Detroit in the second game.
