Most recently, the ozone hole over Antarctica closed as early as this year in 2019, fueling the hope of recovery of the ozone layer.
The ozone hole over Antarctica closed on December 1, marking the earliest disappearance since 2019 and the smallest in the last five years, according to the European space program's climate monitoring component, Copernicus, on Monday.
For the second consecutive year, the ozone layer was relatively reduced compared to the largest and most persistent since the 2020 2023 period and presented a higher ozone concentration, announced the organism with its headquarters in Bonn, Germany, writes EFE. This encourages the hopes of recovery, highlighted Laurence Rouil, director of the Environmental Monitoring Service in Copernicus.
