Coast Guard ends search for Lynette Hooker in Bahamas
Investigators say the search found no remains, and the dinghy and sailboat were seized for forensic testing.
On Friday, the United States Coast Guard terminated its search for Lynette Hooker in the Bahamas after a multi-day dive and ROV operation failed to recover her remains. The agency continues treating the disappearance as a possible crime.
Lynette Hooker vanished on the night of April 4 while returning to the Soulmate aboard an 8-foot dinghy. Her husband, Brian Hooker, reported her missing the following morning, claiming she went overboard in rough waters.
The Coast Guard Investigative Service is leading a parallel criminal probe, having seized the Soulmate and the 8-foot dinghy for forensic examination. Bahamian authorities previously questioned and released Brian Hooker without charges.
Last week, divers, ROVs, UAVs, and a Fast Patrol Cutter were deployed to the Bay of Abaco for specialized underwater operations. The search targeted newly identified areas after investigators found inconsistencies in location data and statements.
Investigation into the disappearance remains active under United States jurisdiction despite the search's conclusion. Brian Hooker has returned to the United States and consistently denied any wrongdoing in the case.
