Christchurch to host Special Olympics National Summer Games in 2025

Christchurch has been awarded the hosting rights for the Special Olympics National Summer Games in 2025. Around 1300 athletes will compete in 11 different sports including swimming, athletics, bowling, basketball and football. The games will be held in a number of sporting facilities across the city including Ng Puna Wai Sports Hub and Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre. The successful bid was announced at a Special Olympics NZ fundraising event on Sunday.
