Build-A-Bear and Sanrio will open new Hello Kitty-themed workshops at major retail destinations following strong fan engagement in Los Angeles, expanding immersive experiences nationwide.
- On Dec. 4, 2025 Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc. and Sanrio announced a national expansion with new Workshops at American Dream, East Rutherford, New Jersey, and Mall of America, Bloomington, Minnesota.
- Following the Los Angeles debut, the company said `From the moment we opened in Los Angeles, it was obvious that fans connected with this experience in a meaningful way` and aims to deepen the Sanrio partnership at American Dream and Mall of America.
- Guests choose a character and take part in the stuffing ritual, enjoying Build-A-Bear's signature Heart Ceremony with pink shopping bags, aprons, custom Cub Condos, and Hello Kitty and Friends personalization.
- The American Dream and Mall of America offer scale and visibility, supporting Build-A-Bear's expansion with Mall of America spanning 5.6 million square feet and revenues of $496.0 million in fiscal 2024.
- Two new Workshops will open in early 2026, Jill Koch said, `This partnership with Build-A-Bear brings our characters to life in a way only the Workshop experience can,` and Sanrio's products are available in over 130 countries.
