UK Records 16,500-Millionaire Outflow as Headway Wealth Cites Planning Demand
Headway Wealth says the departures are driving demand for independent cross-border advice on pensions, tax and inheritance issues.
A record 16,500 millionaires left the UK in 2025, marking the largest net outflow of wealth of any country in history, according to Henley & Partners Private Wealth Migration Report.
Driven by the April 2025 abolition of non-dom tax status and sweeping inheritance tax reforms, the tax burden reached its highest level since the 1940s, accelerating departures of high-net-worth individuals.
With 165,000 millionaires projected to relocate globally in 2026, popular destinations including Milan, Geneva, Singapore, Miami, and Sydney are absorbing much of this mobile wealth.
Headway Wealth, an independent FCA-regulated firm, provides holistic cross-border financial planning, coordinating specialist solicitors and accountants to help clients manage assets across multiple jurisdictions.
Elliott Parkhouse, Director of Headway Wealth, states clients need "one team that holds the whole picture," while Hamzah Shalchi, Director, notes complexity often increases when managing assets across borders.
