Botanica Celebrates the Success of Its Reclaimed Water Project

On Dec. 2, 2025, Botanica, The Wichita Gardens announced the Reclaimed Water Project saved two million gallons beyond goals and supplies reclaimed water across more than 20 acres.
Rigorous testing with the City of Wichita's new Water Treatment Plant confirmed reclaimed water safety for irrigation, driven by conservation goals to reshape sustainability and expand Wichita's statewide water stewardship role.
Molly Parsons, Director of Horticulture of Botanica, said `This reclaimed water system has transformed the way we care for our gardens` and Dr. Lynette Zimmerman, Executive Director of Botanica, added `We are still in the early phases of adaptive water stewardship practices`.
The horticulture team will invite students, families, and community members into interactive water education, with plans to keep gardens vibrant throughout the year, said Dr. Lynette Zimmerman.
The project positions Botanica as a model for sustainability, with Botanica saying it redefined public space conservation and lays groundwork for Wichita's statewide water stewardship role.
