Jury clears Boeing in 737 MAX fraud lawsuit
LOT sought $153 million over alleged concealment of 737 MAX flight-control changes, but jurors found Boeing not guilty after a three-hour deliberation.
On Friday, a jury in Seattle District Court found Boeing not guilty of fraud regarding 737 MAX jets sold to LOT Polish Airlines, concluding a two-week trial.
LOT Polish Airlines had accused Boeing of withholding critical MCAS flight-control system details, arguing this secrecy contributed to 2018 and 2019 crashes while seeking $153 million in damages.
"We are gratified by the jury's verdict in our favor," a Boeing spokesperson said, calling the ruling a major legal victory as the company navigates MAX crisis fallout.
LOT acknowledged the outcome but signaled further legal action may follow, stating the process "may not yet be concluded" and leaving open the possibility of an appeal.
Separately, Boeing secured a deal with China earlier this month for 200 aircraft, with President Donald Trump indicating the agreement could eventually grow to as many as 750 jets.
