Beneath glitz, India's booming pvt universities are textbook case of over-promise, under-deliver

The vast majority of these universities also lack accreditation and do not figure in key educational ranking systems. Just 2.7 lakh students were enrolled in private universities in 2011-12, which went up to 12.76 lakh in 2019-20, shows AISHE data.
