Audi goes full minimalism for its first-ever Formula 1 livery

Audi’s minimalist R26 livery uses three colors inspired by the Concept C and will race in 2026 as part of Audi’s push to innovate and compete for the World Championship by 2030.

  • On Wednesday in Munich, Audi teased the Audi R26, a generic 2026 aero regulations show car whose livery and sponsors will race next year.
  • Audi CEO Gernot Döllner said entering Formula 1 is the next chapter in the company's renewal, framing F1 as a catalyst and targeting the World Championship by 2030.
  • Three colors — titanium, carbon black and `Audi Lava Red` — define the R26's minimalist look inspired by the Audi Concept C revealed earlier this year, and livery designer Marcos dos Santos says it will remain clean with sponsor logos.
  • With 115 days until its first-ever race, Audi mobilizes its Sauber HQ in Hinwil, drivetrain center in Neuburg, and technology office in Bicester while keeping the racing-spec aero kit secret until the pre-season test in Barcelona.
  • Then in early 2022, Volkswagen Group announced Audi and Porsche would enter F1 in 2026, though Porsche's Red Bull deal later fell apart; Sauber's recent season under Jonathan Wheatley, including a Nico Hülkenberg podium, gives Audi a platform.
