A 37-year-old British tourist reports alleged rape by a police officer while handcuffed in a police vehicle.
The incident occurred last week when the woman had just been arrested for drunkenness on the public highway, claiming in her complaint that she had been raped at the back of the police car. The accused officer was charged and placed in pre-trial detention.


The case led to a particularly serious case involving one of its own officers. A policeman from the police station in Aubagne was placed in police custody on Friday 12 September.
