At least 11 killed in Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon on Easter Sunday
At least 11 people were killed as strikes hit Beirut and south Lebanon, and the health ministry said more than 1,400 have died since the war began.
- On Easter Sunday, Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon killed at least 11 people, including seven in Kfarhata and four in Beirut's Jnah neighborhood, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
- Israel has conducted airstrikes and a ground invasion in southern Lebanon since March 2, when the Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah entered the conflict, issuing evacuation orders for around 15% of Lebanese territory.
- On Saturday, the Israeli military warned it would target the Masnaa border crossing with Syria, prompting its closure; Israel claimed the site was used to "smuggle combat equipment," while Syrian official Mazen Aloush, borders and customs public relations director, insisted it was "exclusively for civilian use."
- The Lebanese Health Ministry reported 1,461 people killed since March, with one strike in Jnah landing about 100 meters from a public hospital, while more than one million people have been displaced.
- Amid ongoing hostilities, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun reiterated a call for negotiations to spare the country from destruction on the scale seen in Gaza, while Israel pursues a "security zone" as deep as 30km into Lebanese territory.
