Hot on the heels of the H5N1 debacle in BC is an outbreak of H5N1 influenza at Critteraid Animal Sanctuary in BC.I’d never heard of it before but from their websites, it looks like a good operation. A wild goose has been found dead near Linnich. However, the county veterinary office orders no stable duty for the county of Düren.
The bird plague in wild birds has now also arrived with us. The Rhein-Sieg-Kreis reports that a dead crane was found in Alfter. With it the virus H5N1 could be detected. This is now confirmed by the Friedrich-Löffler-Institut.
